Trademark Filing Fee Increases Effective January 2, 2021

As of January 2, 2021, the USPTO implemented new trademark filing fees in order to address increasing costs and to provide necessary resources for Trademark operations, including implementing the USPTO 2018-2022 Strategic Plan.

Trademark application fee changes include elimination of the TEAS Reduced Fee filing option, which previously cost $275 per class of goods or services. Instead, the TEAS Standard trademark filing option will cost $350 per class of goods or services. The TEAS plus filing option will still be available at $250 per class, up from $250.

Post registration fee changes include an increase of Section 8 or 71 declaration filing fees from $125 per class to $225 per class. The cost to file Combined Section 8 and 15 Declarations and Combined Section 8 and 9 Declarations accordingly increased by $100 per class.

The cost to file a Petition to the Director increased from $150 to $250, and the cost to file a Petition to Revive an Abandoned Application increased from $100 to $150.

Petitions to Cancel a trademark registration, and Notices of Opposition each increased from $400 per class to $600 per class.
